This dance can be performed by 1 to 3 dancers. This complex and ancient dance was developed in the courts of prince lasem hundreds of years ago.
This classical dance depicts the love/hate relationship between the king and queen of two separate realms.

The king loves the queen but she cannot marry him because her father was killed by her would be lover. In a fit of rage the queen turns into garuda but unfortunately loses the ensuing battle with the king. The first dancer, the Chondong, is the servant of the queen who introduces us to the main combatants. The dancers must carefully listen to the Gambelan music to know when to make the correct feet, hand and eye movement.
